CHS Band Booster Meeting
11/08/2011

Mr. Salazar’s Report:

We had a fantastic marching season.  He is very proud of the kids.  It was fun to teach and come to work every morning.  He is looking forward to the next couple of years.  We took a group of students to the 2A State Marching Competition on Monday.  (we couldn’t go to 4A due to a prior to commitment)  Next year, we plan to go to the 5A competition.

The Wind Ensemble was reminded the next 24 weeks are important in developing their skills on their instruments.  It is not a time to relax and slack off just because marching season is over.

We need help with washing the uniforms that were turned in after the last game.  There is a room full of uniforms.  We would like to have them done by Thanksgiving.

HF Stevens had a Region Bash tonight.  It was a party for those trying out for Region Band.  We will have a similar even at CHS on December 2.  Some students will have a chance to perform in front of the group and we will have pizza.  We will need a volunteer to pick up the pizzas at Cici’s.  About 60 students who have shown hard work and dedication will be invited to the event.

We have about $1760 in the booster account.  We still owe Chick-fil-a $360.  We will receive a $500 refund from the drill writer, who was paid a deposit out of the booster funds, leaving a balance of about $1900.

The Christmas Concert will be Monday, December 12th at 7:00 PM in the auditorium.  The Freshman, Jazz, Honors, and Wind Ensemble bands will perform for about 15 minutes each.  We will set up a table with booster items for sale.  We will need volunteers for set up, working the booth while your child’s band is not performing, and clean up.  Cheryl will send out more information.  Set up will be at about 6:15 PM.

Restaurant Fundraisers:

Band Night at Nicky D’s was this past Saturday.  It worked out well and we made $110.  Thanks to Karen Garcia for setting it up, making and distributing flyers during the event.

Karen is working on setting up other sites for a monthly band night out.

Mr. Salazar will talk with the owner of Wing Stop to see about a fundraiser there.

Silent Auction/Dinner Update:

January 28 at 6:00 PM

First Baptist of Crowley will rent their space for $150, which includes set up and clean up.  A $50 deposit is required to secure the date.
