Band Booster Minutes of past meetings

Minutes from March 10th meeting:

At tonight's meeting, Fred & Trina Pecina presented information on the 2nd Annual Golf Tournament. 
The Golf Tournament will be on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at the Hidden Creek Golf Course in Burleson.  Registration at 11:30 a.m. 
Shotgun Start at 12:45 p.m.
More information regarding the tournament as well as registration and sponsor forms will be posted on the website within the next few days, and information will be sent home with the students after Spring Break.  The tournament raised over $3200 last year.

Mr. Salazar asked for parent volunteers to help with tux and dress uniforms the week of March 29th.  The exact time and dates TBA.  If you can help, please contact Brenda Grant at grant3717@charter.net.

Due to lack of funds, there will not be a band trip this year to Six Flags.   The two Operation Majestic fundraisers in April were cancelled. 

We are still looking for ways to raise money for the band.  If you have an idea for a fundraiser, please contact Brenda Grant or Cindy Davis.

UIL Concert/Sight Reading Pre-UIL Concert - Monday, April 5 at CHS - 7 p.m.

Band Banquet - Saturday, April 24 @ South Park Baptist Church - 6:00 - 7:45 p.m.  Tickets $15 per student
Meal will be catered by Carino's
Dance-Live DJ- to follow at CHS Old Gym until 10:30 p.m.  
Parents:  we need six or seven parents to help chaperone the dance.  If you can help, please contact Brenda Grant at grant3717@charter.net.
More information regarding ticket sales and the banquet will be sent home and added to the website after Spring Break.

Percussion Concert - May 7th @ CHS - 7th grade, 8th grade, and High School Percussion

Guard Show will be with April 19 or May 10 - information will be posted on the website as soon as the date has been set.

This is part of the Agenda I had typed up for last week's meeting.  My apologies for having to cancelled the meeting at the last minute. 
September 17 - Homecoming Parade & Pep Rally - 5:30 to 8:30 -- Mr. Salazar will send home information regarding where the students will meet at 5:30 p.m.  Parade begins at 6:30 and travels down Main Street---pep rally will follow the parade at Eagle Stadium.
September 18 - Homecoming - The band will perform after the game
September 25 - Away Game - Volunteers needed to help serve students before they leave for Joshua -Departure time is set for 6 p.m.
September 26 - Crowley Drumline/Colorguard Competition - All Day
September 28 - Meet The Teachers for Sophomore, Junior, and Senior parents.  6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

October 3 - Denton Marching Contest - All Day - Performance Time:  12:49 p.m.
Cindy Davis will coordinate meals.
October 10 - Clinic at CHS - Time:  1 - 4 p.m.
October 17 - Region Competition at Burleson -- will not know a performance time until 2 weeks to 10 days before competition
October 24 - Area Competition at Pennington/HEB

There Will Be Early Morning Practice on Friday, October 9 and Monday, October 12. 
Both days 7 - 9 a.m.

Water Donations: We are asking all band students to donate at least one case of 16.9 oz bottled water. Please help.  We still need donations.

Albertson’s cards: Albertsons has re-structured its Community Partners program. There is no other company that can contribute to your organization as much as we can! Simply put, we give 1% of total sales from your purchases back to your organization. 5% back on sales over $50,000. Lets say your organization has 200 supporters. Each family spends $50 per week at Albertsons. 200 families times 4 shopping trips a month = $40,000 sales per month. That's $120,000 sales per quarter, your organization just earned.....
1% of $50,000 = $500
5% of $70,000 = $3,500
Total Quarterly contribution is $4,000
I have Albertsons temporary cards with me.  If you see me at the game, please ask for a card.

Silent Auction/Dinner: Silent Auction/Dinner will be on January 23, 2010. We need volunteers to now begin contacting businesses for donations by helping send out letters, make phone calls, fax, making craft items, etc. Find out how you can help with the Silent Auction by contacting Elayne Burns at mthreemom@yahoo.com . If you would like to help with the dinner, please contact Cindy Davis at davisc@dot11net.net.   Band Students--each section needs to begin planning what they would like to do for their "baskets".
