Band Boosters Needs You

In band, there is never an off-season. Within the next few months, the students will be busy with the Silent Auction/Dinner in January, UIL Solo/Ensemble Contest in February, the UIL Concert/Sight Reading Contest in April, as well as preparing for the Scholarship Concert on February 9, the Ensemble Concert on February 18, Jazz Competition March 27, Spring Concert on May 17, and the 2010 Graduation Performance on May 28.
It requires significant adult support for a quality band program. Parents are encouraged to sign up to help on committees such as fundraising, auction, contests, band banquet, and other areas where there is a need. There are so many ways to be involved. Please consider volunteering and helping our band program.

January 23 - Silent Auction/Dinner Fundraiser (replace previous information)
The Lockheed Martin Jazz Band will perform again this year, as well as our own Mighty Eagle bands. You will not want to miss this evening of musical entertainment, great food, extensive array of silent auction items, and a wonderful evening of fellowship. The dinner will be from On The Border. Ticket prices are $15 for Adults, $10 for Students/Teachers, and $7 for children 12 and under. Band Boosters will provide pizza for all band students, however if a band student would like to eat a meal from On the Border, they will need to pay $7 for their meal.

We need parents to help with the following areas on January 23:
Help Get Tea For Dinner - 2 volunteers
Help Decorate Tables - 3 or 4 volunteers
Help Set Up Beginning at 10:30 - need 8 to 10 volunteers
Come At 4 p.m. To Begin Placing Bid Items On Tables - 10 volunteers
Monitor Tables During The Auction/Dinner - need at least 20 volunteers
50/50 Raffle - need three volunteers
Cashier - need at least 8 volunteers to help with check out
Clean Up - 10 volunteers
Please contact Cindy Davis at cindyd@makerope.com or Brenda Grant at grant3717@charter.net if you can help. If you have an item you would like to donate for the auction, please contact Elayne Burns at mthreemom@yahoo.com.

February 20 - UIL Solo/Ensemble Contest at Crowley High School
Students from several area schools will be at Crowley High School for the Solo/Ensemble Contest. Mr. Salazar will need volunteers to help in various areas throughout the day--security, data entry, and more. You can sign up to help during the time period that works best with your schedule. Tami Grimes will need help in the concession stand. Information regarding this event will be presented at the Band Booster meeting on January 12. An email will be sent in February asking for volunteers to help provide dessert at the Solo/Ensemble Contest for the directors and judges.
Crowley Band Boosters meet on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the band hall, except we will meet on the third Tuesday in February. We encourage all members to attend monthly meetings. Your participation will benefit every student of the Mighty Eagle Band. The meetings are a great way to stay informed about the band program and to meet other band parents. Please remember to log onto the band’s website, crowleyband.com, for updated information.
“Volunteers don't get paid, not because they're worthless, but because they're priceless.”

Mighty Eagle Band Boosters

The band’s role in high school is just as important to school spirit as football and cheerleading. Many valuable lessons are learned in music instruction. Student body leaders in the high school are also in band. Crowley High School Mighty Eagle Band is one of the finest in the areas. The students and Directors spend many hours outside of school devoted to the perfection and precision of the sight and sound of their craft.

The band boosters’ role is to assist the band directors. We do this by helping provide refreshments to the band members on Friday game nights and during their competitions. We also cook and serve an occasional hot dog on field days.

The Mighty Eagle Band Boosters also help raise money for marching competitions, concert competitions, transportation costs, food for away games and to subsidize any other basic needs the Band department may have. We do this by holding a silent auction, dinner, and jazz concert as our main fundraiser for the year. We also help the band host the Colorguard and Drumline competitions.

The boosters meet monthly, usually on the second Tuesday of each month, at 7:00 pm in the CHS band hall for about an hour. It is a free, fun informal meeting that everyone is invited and encouraged to attend. It is during these meetings that we discuss and decide how we can best help the band.
